Penultimate – An iPad App That Replaces Pen and Paper !!! While Working On The Go

How Often have you Lost or Mislaid A really important scrap of paper ???
When the iPad 1 was released my nearest and dearest bought me one as a birthday present. Being totally honest it took me some time to realise that the iPad could be and was a productive work tool … that it had more uses to it than the ability to merely surf the net in bed….and indeed you too should learn and hopefully discover too …that the iPad is a light and portable and flexible friend for working on the go and on the move whether by plane train or automobile. The iPad has some flaws obviously – nothing is perfection _ but it has become without doubt my weapon of choice for working on the go whenever possible.
My iPad for work “awakening “ came about as a result of hitting upon a forum discussing a comparison of Netbooks and the iPad for productivity on the move, causing me to realise my iPad might be able to do more in practical terms than I thought and I purchased my first productive work app –Penultimate – and I also purchased from Amazon a specialist stylus Pen. Good Move Folks !!!
Penultimate Is now one of the core productivity apps on my iPad – WHY ??
Because Using Penultimate is genuinely a quick and easy way to take handwritten notes, make sketches, create to do lists and reminders easily , record the next brainwave for consideration later—- all on your iPad.
You can replace a pen and bits of paper by using Penultimate to take handwritten notes ……..Whether you’re in the office, at school or a conference, on the go, or at home on the couch or even in bed … all with the convenience of your super portable iPad – after all thats why a lot of folks purchased it in the first place ?? . Maybe it’s old age folks but in bygone days I had an annoying habit of using bits and pieces of paper to record important information, only to mislay a bit of paper or spent ages looking for it . My motivation in trying Penultimate was to have a central place to source easily my various important handwritten notes, messages and items to do. Penultimate Works For Me !!!
BENEFITS OF PENULTIMATE
- Your handwriting looks natural-and real in black gel ink ( or other colours if you wish), on a choice of paper styles.
- Your notes( ideas) are organized in infinitely-expanding notebooks.
- When and if you want to share your thoughts with others while you are on the move or at home— Easy — you can send single pages or entire notebooks as PDF files by email.
- You can simply back up your notebooks to your PC through iTunes
- You can Print directly from your iPad with ePrint-compatible printers.
- You can browse quickly through all pages, or insert, delete, duplicate, and reorder them
It really is a simple and intuitive App – with no complicated or cluttered settings.
When you first open Penultimate, you’ll find a “welcome” notebook that will walk you through all of the major features. You’ll be scribbling your pages and memos, reminders and notes in no time.
You do not have to purchase a stylus folks for the app to work as you can use your finger to take notes as I do on occasion (but only I emphasise when I forget to bring my stylus with me ). For serious productivity use believe me YOU WILL NEED a specialist stylus, because this enables the app to operate with far more speed and you will feel as if you are indeed almost using a pen and paper. This purchase encouraged me to seriously use the app. Considering the work benefits this very inexpensive app can give you, and taking into account the expensive cost of your iPad in the first place, not purchasing a stylus makes no sense.

Hi Rosemary,
I so relate to your point about pieces of paper with important information on them! I think I would love an iPad! I learned to use books to write in because I was constantly losing valuable paper but having it on an iPad would be so much more sensible for managing my life!
Thanks again for your valuable tips.

Technology is amazing isn’t it? I think it’s so cool that you can use a pen to write on your computer.
I don’t have an iPad and I never really cared about checking them out… but now you made me want one darn it. =P haha
Sounds like a really cool way to keep notes and stay organized on the go. Will definitely look into investing in an iPad in the future. Thanks for sharing.

I have not bought yet the IPad 2, reading this post and watching your video I realised what techonology can do.
The I pad2 is a must now not a dream anymore…
I love writing using pen and paper, and I do so in my coaching practice taking notes for the clients.
This is a very creative way for those that love handwriting like myself while having all your notes under control in you IPAD2 plus very convenient too.
Thanks for offering this useful information!

This is a really neat looking application if not new in its category. However, it was your insight into the stylus that is really fascinating. I think most often people get these apps and then skip on the necessary tools and wind up never using them. How’s that expression go? It don’t work if we don’t!
